It was still a tad cold today, but sunny as well. Such a pleasure to leave work with mild sunny weather. Can't believe it's the 8th March already...

I took the day off...and it was beautiful out! Sunny and warm- didn't wear a coat to go to lunch at Red Robin with the hubs today. Supposed to rain the rest of the week, but it'll be warm.

It's raining now, but today was gorgeous. THe sun was out and it was in the 50s. I had my windows down and the radio cranked up riding around town today. Spring might actually be on its way.

Rainy and overcast, but unusually warm for this time of year. We hit the low 60s yesterday and are supposed to again today. They weather guessers are making noises about more snow next weekend. I knew it was too good to be done with the snow for the year. :smt010

Sunny this morning, but still very cold. It's somewhere in the upper 30ºF's. Someone please tell mother nature enough already, turn up the thermostat. This had been the longest, coldest winter in the 10 years I've lived here.

Damp, windy and a chilly 45 degrees. We're supposed to get a Nor'Easter this weekend that lasts until sometime on Monday. Yet another slow moving storm in a string of them. On the bright side, it's all rain. On the down side, flooding is going to be a problem both on the coasat and inland.

I'm venturing out to lunch and a play on Sunday, which I've been looking forward to for months. The tickets were a gift from one of my professors.

Ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh, UGH!!!!!!

It's been raining since Friday and no signs of letting up yet. Pouring rain, and heavy winds. With the soggy ground and the winds, much danger of trees falling over - one man was killed on Route 93 when a pine tree fell on his car. The Shawsheen River, which I live near, is going to be the most flooded of all the flooding rivers in the area, with record levels, expected to be over three feet above flood level. I had to drive through part of it where it had come over the road on my way to the grocery store this afternoon; thought I'd better get there before the road is completely closed. I live about a block or so away from the river, but I don't think it will reach the condos (knock on wood). It's quite a sight to be driving along the road and see the river right up to the same level right next to you, as well as other wet areas at the same level. On my way to work this morning, I saw a pair of mallards swimming in someone's front lawn! The small stream, usually practically dried up, that runs through the woods in back of my mother's house was a rushing torrent when I was over there yesterday, easily three to four feet across - we've never seen it like that in the almost 40 years we've lived there. Later on it's supposed to turn to snow (in the 30s now).

On the bright side, when it's all over, we're supposed to have a few days of sun, and temps up in the 60s by the end of the week.

I might take tomorrow off. With the rivers expected to crest tonight (although I think it's been raining longer than they expected, so who knows how high they will go), it might be tough getting anywhere tomorrow. My usual back roads were starting to flood this morning, and when I went on the highway at lunchtime, there were plenty of areas where the water was also right up level with the road.

I lost two 30-40' pines :smt015

I did take yesterday off and it was gorgeous - I'm glad I did so that I got the chance of seeing the sun and opening the windows, instead of being cooped up where I can barely get a glance of the top of a window. It was cold this morning, though - in the 30s and there was frost on the cars and a lot of the standing water from the storm and flooding was frozen. Now it's up to 58 and supposed to get up into the 60s. I think that Saturday is supposed to be almost 70!

Sunny, and mild. There was some warmth out of the shade. Lovely.

I took my mum and gran to Leeds market (outdoor and indoor) because my gran doesnt go out much and she usually wont go anywhere too far away. Surprised she went to /leeds to be honest. Preferring her comfort zones of Cas, Normy and Wakey.

I survived the deluge, Karen, although it was a bit of a swamp for the play on Sunday. It was worth slogging through, though. The play was good and lunch was delicious.

I still can't believe Southie (South Boston) held it's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday. Everyone and everything must have been completely waterlogged. Pipers in waterlogged kilts may have been worth getting wet for, though.

Thanks. :smt003

The play is a classic American drama called "Paradise Lost." It was written by Clifford Odets during the height of the Depression about a middle class family in New York trying to keep their heads above water. It's less depressing than it sounds and the dialogue rings so true right now. The acting was wonderful, but the set and lighting design were pretty amatuerish and disjointed at times, but that's just my director's opinion coming through. :smt002

It's been beautful here since Tuesday, and the rain KW and WB are getting now should hold off until Monday sometime.

The weather is abysmal here. Another Nor'Easter is bringing more rain to already flooded areas. I don't envy the people who live close to rivers. There has been lots of damage in southeasatern Massachusetts, and many people have been evacuated from their homes. The National Guard is trying to shore up rivers (still swollen from the last two storms) that have reached flood stage again, and the Governor has declared a state of emergency. I'm just lucky that I live on very high ground.

How are you holding up, Juana?

I'm ok, but it's getting depressing. It's tough to get up early anyway, and even tougher when it's barely light. It's been raining like crazy since Sunday night, but so far the road closures I saw the last two storms have not occurred (knock on wood). I think I had mentioned that I had seen a pair of mallards swimming in someone's front yard a few weeks ago - they were back today! It's still supposed to rain through tomorrow, isn't it?

Got about 6" of rain today, what a deluge.

Flooding all over the Island.

The ground is so saturated, water came into my basement through the water service entrance and that's about 4-5' below the surface.

We got rain here, most of the day. My thoughts were: Rain, rain, go away, come back again another fucking another day. I got bleedin' soaked when I walked to the bus stop when I went shopping this afternoon. I did, however, buy myself another brolly today. I gave my last one, when it was on it's last legs- to a homeless person, so it probably was about time I got another. Dragon and brolly's don't seem to last for too long together in one another's presence. We'll see how long this lil' bugger stays with me...
Don't mess with the Bunny.

A Chamber of Commerce day here today. 79, low humidity and nothing but blue, blue sky. I have all the windows open. If only it could be like this all year, with an occasional rain to keep all the new growth growing.
