IE8

Downloaded it, got rid of it.

Once again, as with firefox, I get a screen resolution that's either too big or too small. :smt015

Back with IE7.

You're screen resolution never changes Tony, it's fixed for whatever monitor you're using. You know that you can change the character/ text size in Firefox if that's what the problem is: it's in View/ Text Size, or there's a keyboard shortcut: Apple key + or - (not sure of the shortcut on a pc: probably shift key + or -). Out of curiosity what type of computer/ monitor are you using?

I can adjust my resolution. Right click the screen, cilck properties, click settings.
It depends on the browser. I get want I like with IE7 at a resolution set at 1024x768. Firefox and IE8 give me a too small picture at that resolution, if I try to reduce the picture resolution to 800x600, it gets too big.

Ahh. Sorry, I got you. I was thinking of your standard resolution setting for your monitor. You should never need to change that. Ok. Try this. Use your standard recommended screen resolution for your monitor then open Firefox and do as I suggested earlier. Go to the toolbar along the top, select 'View' and go down the drop down menu to 'Text Size' and try increasing or decreasing the character size. That might help you.

What size monitor are you using?

I've got a 15" dell widescreen, but the difference really seems to be among the browsers, or maybe among the manufacturers?
Who knows? I do know that my next computter will be a Mac :smt023

That's interesting. Well 15" is quite a small screen (I hate using them that small because I end up squinting at the screen with my nose against it!), but it should be all the same going from browser to browser version- ie they should all fit your screen in the same proportions for the same screen size. That's not a Mac or a pc issue- though I am not familiar with IE8. I've used Firefox on a 15" pc before (a few years ago) and it was ok. However, certain websites work much better on larger screens because of the way they're formatted and designed. For some websites you have to scroll all over the place if you have a small monitor. Did you try changing the text size within Firefox as I suggested? It wont make the physical outer dimensions of the browser page any different but it will alter the size of the text, characters and the dialogue box you post on the PRT within the Browser, and may help.

Just another thought. If you get another 'puter, whether it's a pc or a Mac, you'd probably be better of with a 17" screen or better- larger. I can just about use a 17" laptop monitor without too many probs, and at home I use a separate 20" flat monitor tethered to my laptop (though ideally I still want a larger screen). A lot of websites nowadays really don't work very well on the smaller monitors because of the way they're formatted. They can only physically be one size in terms of dimensions, so if you have a smaller screen you often end up scrolling up and down/ left to right to be able to see all of it.

Ha ha! Well, that's good news. You wont go wrong there mate. They've just upgraded them spec wise as well, so it's quite a good time to buy. Though I noticed they went up in price at the same time, so it might be better to wait as the prices often go back down again.
