Internet Explorer

Postby Druid 2156 on Thu Aug 27, 2009 4:33 pm

Recently, I have been reminded of a topic that was posted here last year, and I feel that through my own recent experiences, I should revisit the topic.

I had IE8 on my computer. It was part of an automatic update from Windows. Recently I've been having quite an issue with my computer's speed, and sometimes downright freezing up. I called Comcast about this as we are signed up to have the top speed broadband that's available. I had lodged many complaints about their so-called speed, and finally today I got an answer. IE8 was the culprit! The tech told me about this little glitch with the oh-so-wonderful Microsoft product. :smt021

So I uninstalled ie8, and installed ie7, and it's tremendously better. Let my experience benefit anyone else that can use it.

Oh and yes, hubby and I will be getting a Mac next time around...

If you go to Help and then About Internet Explorer, it will show the version you are on. My browser here at work is IE6, but this is pretty standard, so it should still be the same in IE7 and IE8. I recently upgraded to IE8 at home, but with my dial-up it's always slow, so I'm not sure if it's made a difference. Thanks for the heads-up, Druid!

I have read numerous complaints about IE* and that's why I won't install it. Beth - I too got an update notice which turned out to be IE8 - but I caught on when it asked me to accept the licencing agreement - it was only then it was identified as IE8. I refused to accept it and that was that.

That's interesting I read the other day that Microshaft had said they'd fixed most of their current problems with IE8 and Vista. But then, that's Microshaft for you...
