Spoiler:
I agree, Natasha, in the 'sideways' time most of their lives are very different. I look forward to finding out more - do you think that Kate is really innocent in this storyline? There is a possibility that, instead of being what would have happened if the plane hadn't crashed, it is what would have happened if Jacob had never 'touched' them in the first place, which for most of them happened years earlier.

I'm really enjoying the season so far.

Does anyone watch the repeats that they show at 9? If you haven't, there is a 'pop-up' thing that mentions a lot of facts and makes connections with past episodes. It can be very interesting, and sometimes points things out that I didn't notice the first time.

Spoiler:
Or things that you wouldn't even have known. For example, last week when Dogen met Hurley in the corridor, examining the carvings, and Hurley said that he was a candidate and could do what he wanted, Dogen muttered something in his language (is he Chinese or Japanese?) as he walked off. The pop-up translated something like, "You're lucky that I have to protect you, or else I would tear your head off and feed it to the jackals."

Why do you think they made it all so bloody complicated - so none of you would really remember anything so they wouldn't have to explain anything!

Juana
Spoiler:
Oh..I like the idea that the sideways world is a world without Jacob's influence. It does seem like they are all missing something in that life. I think Kate did something but I imagine in this new world, it's not what she did in the old one.

Ben- this season is great but so confusing.

Spoiler:
Heh heh .... this is the only thread where we can talk about Dragon behind his back and get away with it
DRAGONS GOT KNOBBILY KNEES :smt077 mmmwwwwhahaha

Spoiler:
I'm presuming then that Juliet will be the mother of Jacks son. We also got to meet Dogen's son at the piano recital. I had to google but he is Japanese

I have thoroughly enjoyed the different turns and twists and the fact this series is not at all predictable .... the only thing that will piss me off royally , is if it is one of those strange endings which leave you guessing.

Seriously though. Without giving anything away, do you guys think the last season is shaping up pretty well? Have I got something to look forward to later this year when I get the box set? I'm really hoping the last season is the best.

I have a feeling that the ending will be good. There must be a lot of pressure for the producers to deliver though. Sadly I can't comment a long with you roundies, I wish I could. You're going to see the ending about six months before I am dang it! It'd be fun.

Ben - the network allows you to watch the full episodes online here...

http://abc.go.com/shows/lost

I watch (not Lost) but several shows online when I miss them on the telly. I do hope though, they are not blacked out for the UK like the bloody Beeb does us for EE and Corrie.

Spoiler:
Although I am watching both with up-to-date episodes the same day or next day.

Thanks for that Jenn. It looked like it worked when I peaked at the site. I can actually buy the episodes from Season 6 on iTunes if I want to and watch them on my 'puter. They put each episode up for download as the show progresses. But I'm going to leave it and enjoy the dvd box set later this year. I've found it more enjoyable to watch it that way. If I were really desperate to see it right now on television, I'd just subscribe to SKY.

A weird thing happened with Lost, in the UK, on terrestrial tv. The first two seasons were on Channel Four- that's how I started watching it. But that was the end of it on terrestrial here in the UK. The third season then went to cable/pay view (Virgin), and then later it transferred to SKY instead (also cable/pay view). I find it very peculiar that a major show like that disappeared from UK terrestrial television. Loads of mainstream US dramas get shown on terrestrial tv in the UK continually series to series- from Mad Men (which I also enjoy) to stuff like Desperate Housewives, CSI etc etc etc, but not LOST? It's very peculiar. It's normally less well known productions from abroad that end up on UK cable (or pay view) channels here-like The Wire (also excellent!).

No, fortunately I didn't Juana. I'm still none the LOST wiser. I very quickly looked at one of Natasha's, but didn't read it properly. When I read Karen's I realised that was where you both started joking around. I'm laughing though. In a way you've got me even better, now that I know. Every time you guys write one of those things in a spoiler, I'm not going to know whether you're sneakily saying things about poor Dragon! So I'll be tempted even more to read them. Ok Ladies..you can have Jack, Sayid and Sawyer..I'll take Desmond. Last night's episode was great..even though I am more lost than ever.

This is a real spoiler:
Spoiler:
It appears that Desmond is starting to figure things out. I think sideways Desmond is aware of Island Desmond's life and vice versa. I think he is going to take that manifest and find everyone in the sideways world that is also in the Island world and then he and Farraday are going to try and undo the bomb. Interesting that in the sideways world, Desmond finally has Widmore's approval but it comes at the cost of his relationship with Penny. Can't wait for next weeks episode

Let's face it, there are just a whole gaggle of gorgeous guys on this show! Desmond is up there in my estimation, too! I've been hoping he would come back!

Spoiler:
Well, just as I was beginning to wonder if the producers were just messing with us by having a second story/timeline, they finally start to hook the two realities up. There were quick glimpses before, where it seemed that a character would think something was familiar, but it might or might not have meant anything. But now there is no doubt. And it was even better that once it was clear that Desmond was having flashes from the other reality, we found out that Charlie and Daniel (welcome back to him, too, BTW) also were aware that something is going on. I still don't understand it, but it gets more and more interesting! So sideways time is not just what their lives would have been like if Jacob had never touched them, after all, which had been becoming my theory (not that it was what it would have been like if the plane had never crashed, because there were huge differences in their lives that started way before that flight). Although Charlie was dead long before the bomb went off. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this all ends up, and then looking forward to buying a box set of the whole series and revisiting all the stuff that I have forgotten that is crucial to what is going on now!

Spoiler:
I am beginning to think that sideways world is what happened due to the bomb going off. It went off in 1977 so before anyone ever got on Oceanic 815. I read a theory that the sideways world is a world where the MIB got off the island. He claims to give people what they want but I imagine it comes with a catch. Desmond finally got Widmore's approval but it came at the cost of his relationship with Penny. Sayid got to see Nadia again but it came at the cost of her being married to his brother. Etc. Once Desmond touched Penny, the missing constant from his pre-bomb world, the worlds got mixed up. I've always loved Desmond's "see you in another life brutha" saying. He said it to Jack when they first met, before either ever made it to the island. Last night they did meet again..in another life.

Another nail biting episode.

Spoiler:
Jin and Sun were finally reunited.
I don't believe Sayid killed Desmond, who survived falling into the well after being pushed by Locke. Just when you think that after stealing the boat all of the good guys are on their way to being saved Jack jumps ship and Widmore looks to have doubled crossed on his deal with James. I did have a laugh when James described the pilot as looking like an actor from a Burt Reynolds movie heh heh.
I really get pissed off when the program ends and I know I have to wait another week to find out what happens. I think Dragon will enjoy sitting down and having a Lost day when he get's his set. I almost envy him seeing it all in one go.

Spoiler:
Yes, who didn't get teary-eyed when Jin and Sun finally saw each other and reunited? :smt022

I also think that Sayid did not kill Desmond, but if not, I wonder what changed his mind. Do you think he's suddenly come out of the kind of spell that Smokey has had him in?

If Jack's plan is to stay on the island to foil Smokey's plot, I wonder how he will manage to resist being forced to go. Also, is he now under the Locke Monster's influence, after the blast? When he first came up onto the beach after his swim, I suddenly thought that he might just be the new Jacob, out of the 'candidates'.

We finally got an answer - it was Smokey who was impersonating Jack's father and probably others that the survivors saw, as well (maybe even Kate's horse?). I still want to know who that jungle kid is, though!

Lots of character intersections in sideways time. Claire/Desmond/Jack/Ilana. Locke/Ben/Sun/Jack. Sun obviously recognized Locke as they were being wheeled into the hospital. I'm not sure what Desmond was up to with Claire, bringing her to the lawyer (Ilana). I'm not sure that he knew anything about them looking for her because of Jack's father's will.

I hope that Widmore's people don't kill Sawyer, Kate, Hurley, etc! I doubt that they will, but they certainly have them in position to execute them if they want, and Widmore doesn't seem to want to deal with them. Killing them would certainly prevent Locke from rounding them up and getting off the island with them

Four more episodes left!!!

Not to worry Dragon this is a snippet from a post I made earlier

I think Dragon will enjoy sitting down and having a 'Lost day' when he get's his set. I almost envy him seeing it all in one go.

Meanwhile...

Spoiler:
I think also that although Sayid didn't kill Desmond he might still be in the well because Sayid seemed to looking at the tree's when Locke came upon him. Maybe he was looking for a vine or something to help Desmond out. I can only think that his love for Nadia helped him to remember who he was before going over to the 'dark' side and so he chose not to kill Desmond. Mind you we could be wrong and Desmond is shot all to hell in the bottom of that well .... who knows?
I too wondered if Jack was going to be the new Jacob.

If Widmore's people kill the 'good guys' I shall be seriously bummed but I too don't think this will happen. Only four episodes left :smt022 .... I know the last episode is a double one. They keep saying the time for questions is over ..... "hello" not in my household.
This is one of those rare series that I might buy because it has been so complicated and despite that ,so enjoyable... I could watch it again.

I agree - I will wait for them to come out with a nice box set of the entire series, and get it, so that I can rewatch in a shorter timeframe and hopefully remember enough to get many more of the references to earlier episodes that I miss now because it's been years since I saw them. It would be great if they included an optional special feature of the pop-up stuff that they were using when they would show a repeat of the previous week's episode, that pointed out many of the references and explained some stuff. I only know that they were doing that for the past couple of seasons, but they could create it for all of them. Then the viewer could choose to have more things spelled out while watching, or not.

(didn't think this needed the spoiler thingy)

Don't think this need a spoiler thingy either.....

The creators of 'Lost' are not nice people. Oh, they may entertain us with smoke monsters, islands that are not islands and time jumps that would trick even H.G. Wells, but they have left so many questions unanswered during the last five seasons that fans are still trying to figure out what the heck is going on. The only thing that's keeping them going is the feeling that all will be answered in the series finale.

Well, guess what? That's not happening, either.

So says co-creator Damon Lindelof. In an interview with the Live Feed, Lindelof states that they'll be as definitive as they can be with their ending; however, people are still going to say, "What did they mean by that?" That's not to say the finale is going to be like the still talked about cut-to-black ending of 'The Sopranos.'

Despite all of this talk about unanswered questions, Lindelof did say that the current "flash sideways" device incorporated into this season, which has frustrated many fans, will be explained before the season ends.

Other than that, not much else was revealed, other than new sets had to be built and that the last episode was filmed out of sequence in order to prevent information on it spilling out into the gossip-filled world of the Internet.

I'm gonna be madder than a wet hen if the ending doesn't help me put the whole thing together. A few "well why's" I can live with.

Yeah, I read something about that, too. I thought that everything would be explained, finally.
:smt004
Well, I guess we can only wait and hope that most of the important stuff will be explained.

OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!!!!!!

(Dragon, do NOT look at this spoiler, because I am going to look for pictures to post, and even if you don't read it, catching a glimpse of them might give you a hint!)

Spoiler:

R.I.P.

I was trying to remember who the six candidates were, to figure out how many are left, and can only remember five: Jack, Hurley, Sayid, Sawyer, and either Sun or Jin. Who was the sixth? Or were there only five to begin with? Anyway, this removes several from the equation. At least Sun and Jin finally were reunited before they died. But now their daughter will be an orphan - I thought that Sun would use that as an argument when she was trying to convince Jin to leave, but she didn't. And I guess that Desmond must still be alive, after all. Previews indicate lots about the struggle between Jacob and the Man in Black.

The finale, on May 23, will be two and half hours long, preceded by a two-hour retrospective (I hope of the whole series, not just this season). I will be glued to the TV from 7 till 11:30, that night! And then Jimmy Kimmel is going to follow it with a Lost special, but I doubt I will stay up for that. I think that the night before, they are going to run a repeat of the series' first episode, only 'enhanced' (whatever that means).

Spoiler:
I watched this episode 'on demand' but when Sayid got blown up Image saving them from the bomb I thought about you. I was thinking 'Oh my, she'll have yelled at the TV screen when that happened. I also was thinking "Sun tell him to go back and raise their daughter" but as you said she didn't. It was sad watching their clasped hands fall apart as they drowned. I can't remember what happened to Sun's father. I know he was a dominating cold fish and she was pleased that she took over his company in one story line. It dawned on me that if he was still alive her daughter would most likely be brought up under his control and that would be a good reason alone for her to tell Jin to leave for the sake of their daughter.

I think Kate was included in the Oceanic six but we know now that her name has been crossed off in the cave (Sawyer told her). Sayid told Jack about Desmond being in the well before his demise so let's hope Jack finds him..... he's been in there a while now !!!

This sounds like a good excuse to curl up for the night with a drink and nibbles as I shall be glued to my set as well....... I can't wait !!!!

I've just read the T&L link which was a very interesting article .... thanks :smt023

I've only read their Project Runway/SG stuff which has been hysterically funny but even they seemed sobered and thoughtful when writing about Lost.
It has been a most unusual and thoroughly enjoyable series, which is amazing really, when half the time you can't understand what is going on.
