Murder at Harvard

Postby Caer Ibormeith on Wed May 20, 2009 12:17 pm

There was a deadly shooting at Kirkland House, a dorm at Harvard, on Monday night. It wasn't, thank God, a terrible rampage killing spree, just a common garden variety murder. It's still been a shock though, especially for the students who are still living in Kirkland House while studying for their exams.

The young man died yesterday and they have yet to find his killer.

It's awful when something like that happens on your doorstep. Have they found out anymore about it Caer .... like what the young man was doing there and who shot him?

What I heard, although it doesn't seem very clear to me, is that the victim was friends with two students in the dorm, and that the killer (whom they have caught) was from New York and the boyfriend of a senior girl at the school. The two guys from the dorm gave the other two their key cards to get in, so they could have a meeting. The guy from New York had a pound of marijuana and $3,000. The others were trying to rip him off and it all went wrong. They've been using the term "drug rip", which is a new one on me; I've never heard that phrase before.

Yes. Juana's right. Here's an article from the Crimson with the latest. Of course, it also uncovers the deeper problem of drug dealing on campus. The pressure to perform at Harvard is tremendous.
