As a long time fan of Star Trek, let me say this: What difference does it really make? I don't like him any more, or less, than I did before the big announcement.

One of my favorite singers of all time was the late Freddie Mercury, lead singer for Queen (now there was a hint). The fact that he was gay doesn't even enter into the picture, except for the fact that he was a (very early) casuality of AIDS.
